Jenny Wren is a sweet little bird of early summer, scampering at the foot of the hedgerow, her tawny feathers rendering her almost invisible until, with a whir of tiny wings, she takes flight to her nest where hungry mouths wait to be fed! 

Jenny's dutiful feeding of her brood - sometimes up to 10 nestlings - can be exhausting.  Her husband may be polygamous, fathering broods by multiple wives, and helping with the feeding dependent upon which hatches first.  Once they fledge, however, he steps up his game significantly and feeds, protects and educates his several families with equal vigour.

With the blessing of good fortune, it is possible for one male to be father to 30 or more surviving chicks in one season ... and they may breed again later in the year!

Whisperer, you tell us of the Dilly Bird, little Trojan of the wild!  In days long past, it was both feared and venerated by men, sometimes a sacrifice to protect their wellbeing, at others, a bird to be courted with honour.  But why?

As a denizen within the sphere of FIVE, it lives within the magical power of the pentagram, the five pointed star, the "symbol at the door" of those who have the knowledge to wield that magic.  For FIVE is the symbol of a man, upright, with arms and legs outstretched. It is a symbol of mystic power and the ability to banish demons.

FIVE will protect you; the Dilly Bird is its personification.
